Hello, my name is Victoria Robinson. I am an undergraduate student of Film, Video, and Media Studies at Western Michigan University. I believe in the power of photography to inform, inspire, and connect with those who engage with it. My goal is to empower local creatives by capturing authentic portraits that elevate their personal brand.
In a lot of my photography work, there are self-portraits. I find self-portraits to be rejuvenating. They allow for self-expression without words. Self-portraits are also a great way to experiment with lighting and unique camera angles in the comfort of your own home (or studio).
Music is another passion of mine outside of film and photography. I find myself scoring my projects all the time. What would these photographs sound like? Unfortunately, a full musical project has not come to fruition yet, but I plan to delve deeper into the world of music experimentation in the future.
The art of moving-image and static-image photography allows for endless possibilities. It allows the viewer to immerse themselves fully in a world unlike their own. Behind every memorable event is a shared human effort. Whether you're a photographer, DJ, manager, or food vendor, we all share the beautiful connection of being human. My approach as an event photographer is to step seamlessly into that collective energy.
In my event work, I try to capture the small moments that help establish the event's overall essence. The soft smile of a grandmother watching her daughter get married, the cluttered office of a hard-working craftsman, or the eyes of a sleepy dog. This small-moment philosophy applies to my portrait work as well. I aim to capture a person's or an event's soul in just a handful of little moments.
